To obtain information about a specific mine such as the: (1) type of mine (2) mine status (3) mineral mined (4) MSHA inspections (5) accidents, and (6) MSHA violations, for example, access the Mine Data Retrieval System found on the MSHA homepage.

Rather than trying to locate the Mine Data Retrieval System tab or area on the MSHA homepage, I found it easier to use a web browser and search for MSHA Mine Data Retrieval System.

Using the search engine on the Mine Data Retrieval System webpage, however, can be tricky unless you know the tricks.

For example, after typing a recognizable Mine ID number, Mine Name, or portion of the Mine Name into the appropriate search block on the Mine Data Retrieval System webpage, a pop-up window will show the correctly formatted information. Left click the pop-up window with your mouse pointer which will populate the search block with the correctly formatted information. A SUBMIT button will pop up. Left click on the SUBMIT button to view the mine information and links to various reports.

If the Mine Data Retrieval System does not recognize a Mine ID number in an XX-XXXXX format, try removing the dash.

When the Mine Data Retrieval System search engine recognizes a partial Mine Name that you typed into the search block, the complete Mine Name will show in a pop-up window. Left click the subject pop-up window with your mouse to populate the search block with the complete Mine Name. Then left click the pop-up SUBMIT button to view the mine information and links to various reports.
